Just over a week ago the Blue Ridge Mountains were suddenly and wondrously blanketed with snow, and this part of western North Carolina just outside Sylva saw over nine inches fall in a day. Some of our neighbors on the eastern side of Jackson County received two feet of snowflakes. The amount of snow befuddled the weatherman, and has been the talk of the town and the main headline in this week’s local news. Due to the cold temperatures, snow still remains in many areas. For over 24 hours the fine snow fell and created a winter wonderland of peace here on Brushy Fork Mountain. Mother Nature put on her finest gown of shimmering white and glowed with >>
Season of Light
On the morning of the Autumn Equinox, the sun streaming through the fog in the mystical Nantahala Forest outside my window beckoned me to grab my camera. So I hurriedly put on my shoes and threw on my jacket over my pajamas and scampered outside. Surrounded by the forest, my closest human neighbors are half a mile away down the dirt and gravel mountain road near the peak of Brushy Fork’s ridge in the Greens Creek community outside Sylva, NC. The Path of the Feather
“Be ever mindful of strangers, for sometimes we have entertained angels unaware.” Hebrews 13:2 About fifteen years ago, I started finding feathers everywhere I walked. When I stepped out my home’s front door, there was feather, or two, on my garden path. When I opened my car door and stepped out of my car, there was a feather on the ground or on the sidewalk. One summer day in 2012, I was walking up to my front door and saw something small stuck to the door mat. I stopped to inspect the small object and voila! There was a soft brown and white feather, an owl feather. Amazing serendipitous things happen when we open ourselves to communications with >>
