When your pain and suffering feels too much to bear, Pause a moment to take a few deep breaths And know that there is a space, a quiet space Deep inside of you that is open To take your pain and transform it. Allow yourself to enter that quiet space And feel the peace. There is a welcoming feeling here, Free from judgment, Free from fear, A place to leave your worries and anxieties and cares, even if just for a few moments. It is ok. You are not responsible for the whole world, only for yourself. And when you take the time to go within you transform. And >>
Shaconage – A Journey on the Blue Ridge Parkway
As we approach the Spring Equinox in two days, I reflected on a visit to the Blue Ridge Parkway a few winters ago. In mid-afternoon on a Christmas Day, I looked across Sylva and saw that a great fog and clouds had settled on the mountains in the distance, so I decided to pack my camera and head to the Parkway entrance off Hwy 23/74 at Balsam. It was a fortuitous choice. The fog shrouded the road and most of the surroundings completely on the Parkway. Fog is a metaphor for trust in the spiritual community. Healing Power of Photographic Art
“Consciousness in photography comes out of an awakening to the interlocking interconnectedness of everything, from atoms to suns, space to time, light to dark, event to situation, man to Man, and Man to God.” Minor White, American fine art photographer (1908-1976) Do you believe in the spirituality of art? Centuries ago, the colors used in paintings were made from >>
On the Wings of Angels
“Angels are all around us and any heart who yearns to can reach out and touch a wing.” ~ Anonymous On our daily paths in our lives, angels are all around us. Most of us go about our routines and never notice their presence. And yet they are there, always, and ready to assist us. Have you ever met an angel? I believe that I have met several of them, and it is always an extraordinary feeling. The ones I have met have looked just like you and me, and yet the feeling of their presence is a subtle tingling that runs up your spine. The first time I remember meeting an angel was >>
Every Day is a Blessing
“Every day that dawns is a gift to me and I take it in that way. I accept it gratefully without looking beyond it.” ~ Henri Matisse In the late fall of 2013, I had the opportunity to visit a state park near where I lived in South Carolina just before sunset. This is one of my favorite times of the day to photograph, when the sun back lights the horizon and the trees, and creates silky reflections of the surroundings on water. To be able to walk freely and safely in such a beautiful natural setting is something to celebrate. There are many places on our planet that do not have this gift. I am grateful for >>
