It is the First day of Autumn and the signs are showing with the subtle changes in the leaves. Yellow is the first color to appear, and some small appearances of red.
The celebration of St. Hildegard of Bingen’s birthday occurred a few days ago, reminding us of the healing power of Nature.
The leaves are falling, swirling and dancing in their free falls. Nights are cooler and blankets are placed on the ends of beds.
The culinary delights of this season abound, as apple fritters and pumpkin scones and cupcakes appear. Farmers markets and garden centers are awash with pumpkins in varied hues along with cornstalks and cabbages.
Yes, this is my favorite time of year. Wardrobes are changing into corduroy and soft flannels. Mums appear in Autumn’s colors on porches and the Nantahala Forest whispers “slow down”.
As the sun sets and the crickets softly serenade each night, there is a comforting presence of Peace that fills these mountains.
I believe in the Vision of Peace and Prosperity that Eleanor, Queen of the Meadow and her family and friends hold for us, and I keep it in my heart. Mother Gaia has World Visions of Love, Peace and Goodwill for us all.
May we embrace the many gifts and Visions of Nature and give thanks.
