What does it feel like to celebrate Grace? Perhaps it is feeling like all the stars are in perfect alignment and everything is happening for your benefit. When I travelled to England and Ireland for the first time, that is how I felt. Everything went into place smoothly. In today’s world, things may appear to be out of sync, chaotic. So taking care of ourselves, and taking time to relax our bodies and minds is important. There are Fall Festivals now taking place all over this area of the Blue Ridge Mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges on Earth. Some claim the Appalachian Mountains, of which the Blue Ridge is part, are the oldest. For me, these >>
Amethyst and Citrine Days
These are the days of Amethyst and Citrine And twilights of quiet Orange and Yellow. The fog rolls in for the day, And aligns with the mist And rain. and enfolds us Like a comforting quilt. Almost Autumn, and the wisps Of fog rise up like smoke From the Bunny rabbit’s pots, Cooking their carrot stew. Soon the Parkway will be Filled with tourists with License tags from far away And dreams of homemade apple cider. The climate is softer and gentler Now as the equinox approaches. Time for the harvest, Time for relief and blessings. The days of Amethyst and Citrine Are here and the visions Of past and future are merging >>
The Blessing of Fog
Fog comes to remind us to trust. Trust in our own soul’s wisdom and knowledge, and believe in ourselves. Thank you God for that trust in all that is helpful. Fog reminds us that it may take a little more time to see the results we are expecting, so keep the faith. There is fog on these mountains where I live almost every day. Some in these mountains believe that the number of foggy days in August is the same as the number of snowfalls in the coming winter. My belief is that we >>
A Rose Pink Sunset
Some of the most beloved events here in the Blue Ridge Mountains are the sunsets. And this year the sunsets have been phenomenal. The range of colors runs the gamut of the light spectrum, from reds, pinks, oranges, and yellows, to blues, indigos, and violets. In this season of late summer, we include the foliage, which is predominantly green colored leaves, with tiny bits of yellow colored leaves beginning to make an appearance on the locust and poplar trees. So the sunsets here in Western North Carolina, against the backdrop of the Nantahala Forest, is a “ROYGBIV” color palette, in artists’ terms. It is an excellent time to enjoy sipping cool, clear spring water with lemon slices, and >>
Optimism for Today
Optimism is catching. It is part of the American Spirit, and one of the reasons the world loves this country. The USA was founded on optimism. Optimism is the reason people have come from places across this planet for over 200 years in search of freedom to live the life they choose. This country where I was born is special, and it attracts special people, people with hopes and dreams. And optimism. Always has, always will. What other place on Earth has a statue at the front door, one representing Liberty, that decrees “Give us your tired, your poor, your tempest tossed? Why is the USA called the land of opportunity? Because this is the land of opportunity. >>
