The past several nights the sky has been filled with the Harvest Moon, covering the mountains and beyond with it’s huge glowing orb of all empowering, orange-tinted light.
Then, as the sun rose in the East, the Harvest Moon, now adorned in bright yellow light, was slowly bidding adieu in the West, so the Sun and Moon curtseyed to each other at Dawn.
This season of Autumn is a time of changes and transitions. The changing colors of the tree leaves and the falling leaves create a palette of wonder. Cooler temperatures, the harvest of vegetables and fruits, Fall Festivals in small mountain communities, walks along woodland paths; all of these combine to help our world to slow down, let go, appreciate, admire, enjoy life, be thankful.
Autumn is my favorite time of year. My heart sings as the temperatures drop, jackets and sweaters appear from out of wardrobes, and the winds blow and gently nudge the golden yellow, orange and crimson leaves off the trees, after their last “wave” from their branches.
Hot chocolate, apple cider, and everything pumpkin is on the daily menu.
A golden hue is covering this mountain cove where I live, and spreading along the surrounding ridges. Shades of orange and red are growing, and soon the green shade will be completely transformed into the magical garden of Fall.
It is a time of Joy for all the beauty, the abundance flowing from the Earth, and a time to gather together and reap the benefits of community and the harvest.
In the midst of this historical time of world changes, let us take time to pause and enjoy this lovely season of Fall, and enjoy Life, the most precious gift of all.
